It definitely feels like summer here in New York City with 80 degree temps and clear blue skies. Of course summer has me craving all kinds of seasonal produce including figs! When people ask me what my favorite fruit is, figs always come to mind- it’s a no brainer. Growing up in California, we had a fresh fig tree in the backyard and they always started to come in right as school was finishing up for summer. Nothing beats their unique taste, texture and sweetness.
Oatmeal is my go-to breakfast option, always in my weekly rotation. As the seasons change, I will switch up the toppings. Even though fresh figs haven’t quite made their way to grocery stores here or in South Carolina, nothing is stopping me from choosing the dried varieties!
