Capping off this pool party week with sparkling melon drinks. In case you haven’t noticed, I like freezing water-dense fruit, yesterday’s watermelon pops and today’s mock ice cubes (with much more flavor). Here I have taken two of summer’s favorite fruits and transformed them into the perfect poolside accompaniment to sparkling water. All this requires is that you have an ice cream scooper on hand to make this drink look uniform and elegant.
Nutrition:
Watermelon: Watermelon boasts vitamins C, A and dietary fiber. Potassium is also a standout, a mineral that helps control blood pressure. It also has some serious hydration power (over 91%). A perfect choice when looking to “eat your water” in the summer heat.
Cantaloupe: Similar to watermelon, this beta carotene beauty boast vitamins C and A along with dietary fiber and potassium. Ripeness if indicated by how “full and heavy” it feels. Knocking on the melon also helps, it should sound “dull and deep” rather than “high and hollow”.

SPARKLING MELON WATER
//Ingredients//
- 1 bottle San Pellegrino
- 1 watermelon, sliced in half
- 1 cantaloupe, sliced in half
//Directions// Use an ice cream scooper to scoop watermelon and cantaloupe balls of equal size. Place them evenly on a lined baking sheet and freeze for several hours. Serve them in sparkling water, poolside.
