Today on the Your Carolina back to school show, I shared better for you snack and meal ideas for kids and parents!
Sweet snacks:
Starting with sweet snacks…. Quaker Chewy bars are a great option! They are made with 100% whole grains and ingredients like chocolate chips and raisins. They have no artificial flavors, added colors or high fructose corn syrup and come in varieties that kid’s love like Dark Chocolate Chunk and S’mores. It’s a convenient and wholesome snack that parents can feel good about giving their kids.
Another sweet snack with benefits is ginger chews! Research suggests that ginger may help comfort an upset stomach and aid digestion. The Prince of Peace Ginger, come in 6 flavors like lemon and mango and each chew is individually wrapped so they are an easy to add to lunchboxes.
Savory snacks:
For savory snacks, I shared kale chips with salsa. I always recommend salsa as a condiment because its low in calories and high in vitamins and minerals. Fresh Cravings Salsa is one of the only salsas found chilled in the produce section. It’s made with vine-ripened tomatoes and crisp handpicked veggies so it tastes homemade. The recipe is not cooked or pasteurized you can find at Walmart and Kroger.
Easy meals:
Next, I shared easy and nutritious meals for busy school nights. The frozen entrees by Saffron Road are my favorite – the Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Enchiladas Poblano. They are ready in about 5 minutes and you’re getting a good balance of satisfying protein and veggies. You can find them at Publix, Bi-Lo and The Fresh Market.
Something for busy parents:
Finally I shared something specifically for parents during the busy back to school season.
