Today on FOX Denver, I share easy ways to spring clean your diet!
Tip 1: Spring clean your beverages by replacing sugar sweetened drinks with nutrient-dense options
100% Orange Juice contributes vitamins and minerals and antioxidants. I added it to my green orange Julius smoothie. A common misconception about orange juice is that it’s jam-packed with added sugars. In truth, it contains NO added sugars. The sweetness you taste is from naturally occurring sugars that develop as the oranges grow. Next I added spinach, orange, and a teaspoon each of the chia, flaxseeds and hulled hemp seeds which add omega-3 fats, fiber, iron and plant-based protein.
Tip 2: Spring clean your snacks by choosing ones that pair protein with fiber
Hippeas baked chickpea puffs check both of those boxes with 4 grams of plant protein and 3 grams of fiber per 1 oz. serving. Plus they come in delicious flavors like vegan white cheddar and nacho.
Tip 3: spring clean your meals by building them around protein, fiber and veggies.
My veggie Mac n’ cheese is made with Modern Table Vegan Mac which is an alternative pasta made from Lentils, Peas & Rice so you get 16 grams of plant protein and 4 grams of fiber per serving. Plus it has an amazing taste and texture.
Tip 4: My final tip is to spring clean your sweets with desserts with benefits.
I made my banana bites dipped into oat milk dark chocolate bars by Endangered Species which are vegan, dairy free and made with real ingredients so no sweetener substitutes, bulking agents or sugar alcohols. It comes in 55% OR 75% cocoa in varieties like mixed berries and coconut almond.
