It’s the most wonderful time of the year filled with family gatherings, holiday parties and lots of delicious food. I love making roasted nuts this time of year because they are equally festive as they are satisfying. Last year I shared my rosemary and thyme spice nuts which were a favorite on the blog. This year I took things to the sweeter side with a little cinnamon and maple syrup to pair with my favorite seasonal tree nuts.
It’s easy to whip up a batch of these to have on the counter to snack on throughout the holiday season. Just a handful will keep you satiated with heart-healthy unsaturated fats and a little sweetness to satisfy your holiday sweet tooth.
Nutrition:
Pecans: These buttery tasting tree-nuts are filled with heart-healthy mono and poly-unsaturated fats. These plant-based fats are good to integrate into your diet in moderation to help keep cholesterol levels within a healthy range.
Cinnamon: Cinnamon has demonstrated an ability to blunt the glycemic response- the rate at which food is broken down into glucose and released into the bloodstream resulting in steady and sustained energy without the highs and lows.
