In today’s go, go, go culture, we often forget to slow down and live in the moment. Many of us are thinking about what is next instead of embracing the here and now. I have partnered with Loacker to share five tips for slowing down and living in the moment.
1. Be grateful for what you have
Many of our day to day problems are trivial in the grand scheme of things. Having your health, a roof over your head and food on the table, are things to be grateful for and not taken for granted. Realizing what you have instead of what you don’t have is one way to cultivate gratitude.
2. Schedule “me time”
Making time for hobbies, exercise, spending time with your pet or significant other, all support your wellbeing. Be sure to set aside time each day to pursue things that make you feel good and relaxed.
3. Wake up 20 minutes earlier
Mornings can be a rushed time for many of us. Set your alarm 20 minutes earlier and spend that time meditating before the day or using it to get a slower, less rushed start.
4. Eating mindfully
Healthy eating should not feel like a punishment but rather be a way of life. As a dietitian, I encourage the “all foods fit philosophy” meaning no food should be off limits. For me, that means eating nutritious foods that benefit my health and wellbeing most of the time, as well as foods that bring me joy – healthy or not.
5. Take a coffee break
Experience coffee the way Italians do – slowing down and enjoying it with premium confections! Coffee is incomplete without Loacker. Loacker is a better-for-you snack option made with real cocoa, 4 layers of cream and no artificial colors, flavors or hydrogenated fats. I am partnering with Loacker to give away the ultimate coffee companion care package for your afternoon coffee break. Enter over on Instagram! Winner will be chosen April 8th.
