An in-season, on-the-go snack packed with heart healthy fats and free-radical-fighting antioxidants has made it’s way to Nutrition By Mia. It’s the busiest time of the year as we prepare for the holidays, scramble to get projects finished before the start of a new year, and finish up classes before next semester.
On-the-go snacks are a staple right now and this happens to be one that can be thrown together with ease. Pecans and pumpkin seeds are two of fall’s favorite heart-healthy fats and I’m all about using them as much as we can before winter comes around. I hope you enjoy this simple snack as much as I do!

Pecans: These buttery tasting tree-nuts are a fall favorite. A handful of pecans contains heart healthy mono and poly-unsaturated fats.
Cranberries: Vitamin C and fiber are two nutrients that can be found in cranberries. Like most berries, they are rich in antioxidants that help fight inflammation.
Chocolate: Yes, chocolate is actually good for you in moderation! Dark chocolate not only boasts magnesium which is the mineral that is linked to…. but it’s known for its polyphenol antioxidants which combat oxidative stress in the body.
