This past weekend we had the best staycation at The Restoration Hotel.
This seriously dreamy boutique hotel is located in the heart of downtown on Lower King street where you’ll find all the best boutiques, galleries and small artisan businesses as well as some great restaurants. This last Sunday actually happened to be “Second Sunday” which is when King Street is closed to cars so you can freely roam shops and restaurants by foot with your kids and pets. One of the best days to visit downtown Charleston!
Checking into the Restoration truly felt like a home away from home. We stayed in their signature suite which had a full kitchenette and two bathrooms. We especially loved the wine and cheese reception in the stunning library and late night cookies. Had we stayed another night, we would have taken advantage of the complimentary bicycle rentals and perhaps taken their complimentary golf cart shuttle to Kaminskys on Market street for Hummingbird cake.
The Watch: Rooftop Kitchen & Spirits
I was especially excited to try The Watch which is the Restoration’s very own farm to table restaurant that celebrates local ingredients all while enjoying one of the best views of the city.
My boyfriend and I opted to sit outside on the patio and we had a direct view of the iconic Ravenel bridge. The staff knew we were local because we were the brave enough people to sit outside (those Charleston summers are hot!) but we didn’t mind at all because there was a nice breeze.
To start, we split a dozen oysters and the chopped salad made with romaine, red onion, tomatoes, cucumbers, bacon and house ranch. My boyfriend got The Watch Burger for his main course and I got The Watch Steak served on local vegetables. I also got the Sunset Spritz, their housemade cocktail made with lemon, peppercorn syrup and prosecco. We loved our meals just as much as we loved the view!
We can’t recommend The Restoration and The Watch enough and are looking forward to being back again soon!
Thank you The Restoration for gifting this stay!
