Fudgy sweet potato BROWNIES for a healthy & haunted halloween. Made with fiber and beta-carotene rich sweet potato, antioxidant-rich cacao & sweetened with 0-cal SweetLeaf Stevia derived from the stevia plant.
It’s Halloween week and I could not be more excited for healthier sweet treats.
Meet my sweet potato BROWNIES.
These are fudgy, low in calories, refined sugar-free and made with VEGGIES. What more could you ask for?
I shared these last week in my healthier Halloween treats segment on CBS WTOC Savannah and they were a hit. If you missed it, you can catch the segment here.
If you have been following Nutrition By Mia for a while, you know that I love sneaking veggies into just about everything – yes, even dessert. Sweet potato not only adds fiber, vitamins and minerals, it makes the dessert super moist and melt in your mouth. The great thing about adding sweet potato (or any squash) is that you don’t have to add as much fat/oil. So if you are looking for a lightened up sweet treat this Halloween, you will love these!
Instead of using refined sugar to sweeten these, I used SweetLeaf Stevia Sweetener products which are derived from the stevia plant – so a great alternative for those looking to cut back on their added sugar and artificial sweetener intake.
They are zero calories, non-GMO project verified and gluten-free. A little goes a long way to reach your desired sweetness.
The dietary guidelines recommends keeping added sugar intake to no more than 10% of your total daily calories. Doing so will reduce your risk of chronic diseases and help with weight management.
