Today on NBC Great Day Houston, I shared healthy and haunted Halloween party tips. Catch the segment here!
Halloween Chips and Dip
First we I shared single-serve Halloween chips and dip. We made the chips using Halloween cookie cutters, whole grains tortillas and a better for you oil with a high smoke point. Then we added spices, which add flavor for virtually zero calories. I shared the Simply Organic garlic, cinnamon and cloves. Their spices are as real as it gets, no additives or fillers, they are directly sourced from growers and a portion of the proceeds goes toward helping to combat food insecurity. Pop these in the oven and serve with your single serve dips.
Build Your Own Healthy Halloween Party Mix Bar
Next I shared a “build your own party mix station” with popcorn, dried fruit and two better for you candy swaps. For chocolate lovers I shared Skinny Dipped chocolate covered almonds which are high in protein, low in sugar and crunchy with a touch of salt. They come in five varieties including my favorites – cocoa and peanut butter. For gummy lovers I shared SmartSweets which has 3 grams of sugar per bag, less than 90 calories and are sweetened without sugar alcohols or artificial ingredients.
Spooky Sangria
Finally I shared a no added sugar spooky sangria.Start by muddling the fruit. Next, adding sparkling water and a spooky wine. We used the Auspicion wine which is perfect for the holiday, symbolizing elements of mystery and mysticism.
