Here are some tips to help make this time of year a little healthier!
Tip 1: Choose beverages with benefits
The USDA recommends eating meals made up of fruits, vegetables, and lean meats, but what about beverages? I have two beverages with benefits starting with the Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Almondmilk. This is a great dairy milk alternative, perfect for cereal, smoothies and baking. It’s come in Unsweetened Original and Unsweetened Vanilla and is fortified with calcium and vitamins, while being free of gluten, lactose, saturated fat, cholesterol and added sugar.
Cold pressed juice is an easy way to get vitamins and minerals from fruits and veggies into your daily routine. Wonder Beet, formally known as Beetology, is a cold pressed juice that champions the power of beets in four different ways including the Beet-Lemon-Ginger and Beet-Cherry varieties. These juices are high in nutrition and flavor, and low in calories with no added sugar or artificial additives – just 100% organic fruits and vegetables.
Tip 2: Make your salads shine
A great salad really comes down to the ingredients and the DRESSING. I love making tahini dressing using the all-natural Mighty Sesame Squeeze and Serve Organic Tahini. This tahini is made with one ingredient – sustainably sourced high quality sesame seeds — and is packed with calcium and 8g of protein. It’s vegan, gluten and dairy free, kosher and halal…. and most of all… it’s delicious.
Tip 3: Incorporate seafood at least twice a week.
Protein helps to build and maintain lean muscle mass and salmon is a great source that’s also packed with omega-3 fats important for brain and heart health. MOWI is the world’s largest producer of farm-raised Atlantic Salmon. It’s ASC-certified which one of the highest standards in sustainability in the industry. Fresh MOWI fish is farmed, freshly processed and packed, utilizing skin pack technology that allows the product to breathe out, but does not allow anything to breathe in. This allows the shelf life to be extended and the product can be available at stores or online in as little as 24 hours. It’s available in different sizes, including 6 oz portions in plain and seasoned varieties.
Tip 4: Fill in nutrient gaps when needed
Studies suggest that nearly 9 out of 10 American children are deficient in at least one key nutrient and the SmartyPants Vitamins can help fill in the gaps and easily fit into your daily routine. These premium gummy multivitamins contain more nutrients to provide more comprehensive supplementation in one daily serving with product options specifically formulated for toddlers, kids, teens, and adults. For example, the SmartyPants Kids Multi & Omegas is made with over 15 different nutrients, including Vitamins A, B12, C, Zinc and D3 that help support your immune system during this time of year. They are also free of synthetic colors and certified free from the 9 major food allergens.
Tip 5: Snack smarter
I’m a big fan of Good Measure’s blood-sugar friendly snacks especially their most popular snack – the Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Nut Butter Bar which combines peanut chunks, seeds, dark chocolate, and rich peanut butter so they are creamy with a light crunch. All Good Measure snacks contain 5 or fewer grams of Net Glycemic Carbs, ensuring little impact on blood sugar and every snack is made with nutrient-rich ingredients to provide nutrition in every bite.
