ABC, Lowcountry Live: Healthy and Affordable Holiday Entertaining with ALDI

The holidays are a fun and festive time but it can be stressful if you are hosting. That’s why I am so excited to partner with ALDI. It truly is a one-stop destination for all of your holiday entertaining needs – that’s high quality and affordable.

Gluten free party platter

An easy gluten free party platter includes cheese, veggies, fresh fruit and liveGfree crackers and pretzels. These are part of ALDI’s exclusive gluten-free line that includes everything from baking mixes to breads and pastas. It recently earned the Good Housekeeping Seal of approval – which is considered the gold standard in helping to guide shoppers, so you know they are good!

Side: Roasted Acorn Squash and Brussels Sprouts

For our side dish, I shared roasted acorn squash and Brussels sprouts – both in season right now! ALDI recently announced its largest product expansion ever, including a 40 percent increase in fresh food selection and that includes more fresh produce and organic options.

Main: Grilled Pear and Apple Pork Tenderloin


For our main dish, I shared grilled pear and apple pork tenderloin. Pork tenderloin is a good protein option for the holidays because it’s flavorful but a leaner cut of meat. ALDI has a great selection of proteins including their Never Any! Line – which also earned the Good Housekeeping Seal of approval –it includes fresh meat products free from antibiotics and added hormones.

Sweet Treat: Cranberry and Almond Dark Chocolate Bark

It’s not the holidays without a sweet treat – I shared a cranberry and almond dark chocolate bark. Dark chocolate is lower in sugar and higher in flavanol antioxidants than the milk variety – this also makes a great hostess gift!

Wines: Peaks & Tides Cabernet Sauvignon and Grandi Mori Valdobbiadene Prosecco

ALDI is especially known for their award-winning and affordable wines. I shared the Peaks & Tides Cabernet Sauvignon – which pairs great with your Thanksgiving fare. You can find all these recipes plus a story locator at ALDI.us.

What you’ll need:
3 egg whites
1/4 cup coconut flour
1 tsp truffle dust
Toppings of choice: cheese, marinara, mushrooms, basil etc

Whaat to do:
1️⃣Mix egg whites, coconut flour and truffle dust in a mixing bowl. Add a tablespoon of water as needed for batter just cute come together.
2️⃣Press batter into thin crust and place on a lined baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. Top with toppings of choice and bake for another 5 minutes if adding cheese for cheese to melt.

What you’ll need:
2 tbsp maple syrup 
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 @autumngloryapple 
1/4 cup yogurt

What to do:
1️⃣Preheat oven to 375 F
2️⃣Whisk together maple syrup and cinnamon.
3️⃣Slice off the top of the apples and using a melon baller to scoop out the core. Use a paring knife to make two circular cuts around the core, then place your apple cut side down on a cutting board and slice crosswise.
4️⃣Brush with maple syrup mixture, place in a baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.

What you’ll need:
1 cup Quaker old fashioned oats, ground into flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp coconut sugar
1 tbsp almond butter, warmed to a liquid consistency

What to do:
1️⃣Preheat oven to 350 F.
2️⃣In a large bowl, combine oat flour, baking powder, yogurt and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon until combined. 
3️⃣Add batter to clean working surface and use a wooden roller to roll the dough into a long rectangle about 1/4-inch thick. 
4️⃣Brush almond butter on one side of the dough and sprinkle with coconut sugar and cinnamon.
5️⃣Roll dough into a long roll and slice into 4 cinnamon rolls Place in a small baking dish and bake for 15-20 minutes.
