Say goodbye to candy and trinkets and hello to delicious and nutritious stocking stuffers! I shared my favorites on CBS Good Day Sacramento.
A fruity snack with a fun twist
Not all of us get excited to finding fresh fruit in our stocking BUT, fruit CHIPS are a different story. I shared the freeze-dried fruit snacks by Crispy Green. They snack like a chip, are made with only one ingredient the fruit itself – no added sugars and they come in these convenient to-go packs which make great stocking stuffers.
A protein-packed, paleo-friendly “candy” bar
The Chocolate Salted Caramel and Salted Almond Butter bars may look and taste like a candy bar but they are actually paleo-friendly protein bars by Caveman Foods. They’re made with simple, clean ingredients like egg white protein, nuts and seeds. One bar has 10 grams of protein and 8 grams of sugar so it’s like a better for you candy bar without the spikes and dips in energy.
A dietitian-approved potato chip swap
I shared my dietitian-approved potato chip swap – single serve chickpeas in sea salt and Bombay Spice by Saffron Road. Potato chips are easy to overeat because they are primarily carbohydrates and fat — these are higher in protein and fiber – that’s why I call them a snack with staying power! You can find them on Amazon.
A nutritious snack for salty snack lovers
For salty snack lovers, I shared the barbecue and salt and pepper Crunchy Bites by SimplyProtein. Crackers are also mostly carbohydrates, these have 16 grams of protein per bag, which is the most satisfying macronutrient that basically tells the brain you’re full. They’re also made with simple, clean ingredients – nothing artificial.
