Today I shared healthier holiday sweet treats for the holidays on Good Day Sacramento!
Dried fruit tree platter
First we have a dried fruit TREE platter. Dried fruit has the same vitamins, minerals and fiber as whole fruit; just the water has been removed. I used Fruit for Thought because is made with only one ingredient, the fruit itself so added sugar or preservatives
Reindeer mix
Next we have a healthier reindeer mix. I used granola and popcorn as the base made with Cocavo, which is a blend of extra virgin coconut and avocado oil. If you like the sweet flavor of coconut oil – this is a better for you alternative because it’s lower in saturated fat and higher in those good plant-based fats – you can find it at Walmart.
Manuka honey baked fruit
Manuka honey is what I call a sweetener with benefits because it adds sweetness along with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants unlike refined sugar. I’m using Comvita which is sourced from New Zealand where the manuka flower is native and is UMF certified which means that it contains the chemical markers that make it real Manuka honey.
Superfood desserts
Finally we have desserts made with superfoods – which are ingredients with a high level of vitamins and minerals relative to the calories they contain. These are GOJI berry cookies and CACAO brownies made with the BareOrganic superfoods, which are USDA certified organic and packaged in recyclable, reusable continuers. You can find them at GNC and on Amazon.
