New year, new pizza!
I have never met a pizza I didn’t like so I set out to make a pizza that was lower in carbs and higher in protein – enter: egg whites!
Egg whites are pure, high quality protein meaning their contain all the essential amino acids (protein building blocks) to make a complete protein. And yes, you may be thinking – “Mia, isn’t the yolk where all the nutrition is?”. Yes, that is true! Egg yolks are a nutrition powerhouse but for the purpose of this recipe, I created a low carb and lower fat alternative by removing the yolk.
The best thing about this pizza is that it actually has staying power. Traditional pizza crust is made with refined flour which digests quickly and will leave you feeling hungry, faster. Egg white protein on the other hand, will keep you feeling full longer for less calories.
Don’t forget to go crazy on the toppings. Personally, I am all about the veggies.
