Today we kicked off National Nutrition Month on CBS WTOC’s Morning Break!
Tip 1: Build your snacks around fruit.
Freeze-dried fruit snacks are a unique way to incorporate fruit into your dried. Crispy Green is great for on the go. They snack like a chip and are made with only one ingredient –100% pure fruit – no added sugar. They come in EIGHT varieties including the new “all strawberry” flavor. You can find them on Harris Teeter and Lowe’s.For the month of March, Crispy Green partnered with Produce for Kid’s Mission for Nutrition Program to help educate consumers to make healthy nutritional choices at select local grocery stores.
Tip 2: Build your snacks around veggies.
One way to snack on more vegetables is to pair them with a delicious dip. We used the organic plant-based dips and salsa by Fresh Cravings. They’re made with nut-based protein, flavorful spices and super-food ingredients like chia and hemp seeds they’re also vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and free of preservatives so you can only find them chilled in the produce section at Publix, Walmart and Kroger. Add to a mason jar and sliced veggies. Store in the fridge for easy snacking.
Tip 3: Go plant-based for March!
My next tip is to incorporate more plant-based foods into your diet and if you are looking to lower your meat consumption, Sweet Earth is a great place to start. Everything is vegan or vegetarian and packed with plant protein and filling fiber. The Awesome Burger has the meaty, juicy taste of a traditional burger and is perfectly pre-seasoned for you. I use the Awesome Grounds instead of ground beef in my taco and meatball recipes. And my favorite is the Mindful Chik’n, which tastes like the real deal and is great in salads.
Tip 4: Satisfy your sweet tooth with sweet treats with benefits.
I love ginger chews! They are great for traveling and known to help with nausea, motion sickness and digestion. My favorite ginger chews are by Prince of Peace Ginger you can find them at GNC, Rite Aid and The Vitamin Shoppe. The original is most popular flavor but I like the lemon, mango and orange best.
