We often hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but what does a healthy breakfast look like? Today I share three recipes and tips for starting your day off on a nutritious note starting with an easy way to help meet your recommend 5 servings of fruits and veggies per day.
Start you day with a smoothie!
Add frozen veggies, fruit, protein like chia seeds and Raw Generation 100% raw, cold-pressed fruit and vegetable juice made with fruit and vegetables that are flash frozen helping to keep the nutrients intact. Plus they have no added sugar and you can have them delivered fresh and frozen to your door. Just order here. Besides adding to smoothies, cold pressed juice on its own is an excellent addition to breakfast and easy way to start your day with a burst of nutrients.

If you are looking for a make-ahead breakfast solution, then you’ll love my 5-ingredient customizable egg cups. Whisk together 6 eggs, ¼ cup of shredded cheese, salt and pepper to taste and two veggies of choice – I used chopped spinach and ¼ cup of Fresh Cravings Salsa which packs both flavor and nutrition and is refrigerated instead of jarred. Bake in a muffin pan for 20 minutes at 350 F. This recipe is customizable so feel free to get creative with different veggie mix-ins

Another healthy make-ahead breakfast option is my elevated Mediterranean sheet-pan breakfast burritos. They are made with a base of Bfree Sweet Potato wraps made with ground sweet potato flour and have only 94 calories each plus 3 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber but you can also use the High Protein Carb Friendly Wraps which are keto-certified with 3 grams of carbs and 11 grams of protein. All the Bfree bakery products are high in fiber, allergen-friendly and free of gluten and dairy. To a sheet pan, toss together chickpeas, red onion, zucchini , bell pepper and olives with avocado oil, salt, pepper and oregano. Bake for 25 minutes at 400 F. Next spread hummus on your tortillas before adding your filling. I use Fresh Cravings hummus which is made with a short list of whole food ingredients including Chilean extra virgin olive oil, NON-GMO chickpeas and savory tahini offering a balance of good fats, fiber and protein.
