CBS Las Vegas NOW: Healthy Tailgate Meals and Snacks

September 20, 2023

A tailgate party is a perfect time to celebrate and enjoy delicious food with friends and family while supporting your favorite sports team. I’m on CBS Las Vegas NOW with have you need to put together a delicious and nutritious spread starting with finger food appetizers.

If you’re hosting this tailgating season, my top tip is to make sure there’s something for everyone at your party. At Sprouts Farmers Market you can find a curated selection of better-for-you products including organic options, gluten-free, plant-based, keto-friendly, and grass-fed to satisfy a range of tastes and dietary preferences. For an easy party platter, serve vegan almond dips and salsa with grain-free tortilla chips, raw veggies and grapes. Not only does this platter offer a delicious array of flavors and textures, it also provides a balanced mix of nutrients so you can indulge in the tailgate spirit while keeping your health goals intact.

For the main course we have game day favorites – chicken wings and sausage. Save time cooking and cleaning with these pre-marinated chicken wings and chicken sausages from sprouts available behind the service counter. There is something for everyone: spicy buffalo wings, honey mustard and rosemary wings, Jamaican jerk and more as we well as Hot Italian Chicken Sausage, Sweet Italian Chicken Sausage and Hatch Chile. Serve with toasted buns and an array of nutritious condiments and toppings such as ketchup, mustard, pickles and sliced avocado. These meals do all the prep work so you can enjoy all the flavor and you can spend your time enjoying good food with your favorite people!

You can’t forget the side dishes to round out your tailgate spread. You can find the season’s freshest, most delicious farm-fresh produce at Sprouts that is easy to toss on the grill. To cook asparagus: simply Snap off the bottom ends and marinate in olive oil with a little kosher salt, lemon juice and zest. Cook for 4 minutes on the grill, turning once, and they’re done. You can even grill up produce like Italian squash, red and yellow onions and sweet bell peppers to round out your grilled veggie spread. One great grilling tip is that marinades that include fruit juices like orange or lemon may serve to reduce the risk of chemical reactions that can create potential carcinogens. Fifteen minutes of marinating is usually sufficient. Another time-saving hack is the ready to heat meals from the deli area like this Homestyle Cheddar Mac & Cheese that is ready in minutes.

Finally, cheers to your favorite team with fruit-infused ready to drink margaritas. Add sliced lime and raspberry’s to an ice tray, cover with water and freeze until solid. Rim a glass with salt, serve with the lime and raspberry infused ice cubes and top with ready-to-drink Baja Lime Margarita Agave Wine.
