Celebrating fall and Halloween today on CBS Las Vegas NOW!
Start by kicking things off with a Halloween snack platter
Start with nutritious dips. I love the Fresh Cravings hummus because it is made with a short list of high quality ingredients including Chilean extra virgin olive oil, tahini and chickpeas and comes in unique flavors like everything bagel and honey jalapeño – find it in the deli section at Walmart. WeI also use the refrigerated Fresh Cravings salsa which you can find chilled in the produce section at Walmart. Then add your crunchy component – I’m using Popchips which are a better-for-you salty snack. These chips are popped, not fried and have only half the fat of fried potato chips. You can find a 30-count variety pack with single serving pouches from Sam’s Club. Finally add your orange and black protein and produce.
Next, make low-calorie sweet snack – ghost meringues.
The Tidbits meringue drops have less than 2 calories per piece and 80 calories per pouch. I used the caramel but there are several flavors including chocolate, cookies n’ cream and strawberry in regular, diabetic and keto-friendly varieties. Use icing for the eyes.
Finally I make one one of my favorite recipes from my new book – banana-sweetened chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.
Combine 2 mashed bananas with ¼ cup nut butter, 1 cup quick oats, ½ cup rolled oats, ¼ cup chocolate chips and 1 tsp pure vanilla extract, I use vnlla Extract Co. who has a line of sustainable, high quality, Madagascar-sourced vanilla products including Gourmet Grade A Vanilla Beans so you can unleash creativity – perfect for holiday baking and even homemade ice cream and cocktails.
