Today I am back on Las Vegas NOW sharing better treats for Halloween!
Sour patch grapes:
First we have sour patch grapes. Grapes are a healthy, portable snack you don’t need to peel, cut or slice. They are also a natural source of antioxidants and other polyphenols including resveratrol that studies suggest may support immune health. 99% of grapes are grown in California. Toss with lime juice and freeze.
As an optional step, you can roll them in a granulated alternative sweetener like Swerve which has zero sugar, calories or carbs and a low glycemic index. It measures cup for cup like sugar so a great staple for holiday cooking and baking. You can find it at Walmart, Smiths and on Amazon.
Halloween cut-out cookies
Next, we have a fun recipe to make with kids- Halloween cut-out cookies. I simply rolled out the Sweet Loren’s sugar cookie dough – it’s vegan, gluten-free, made with simple clean ingredients and free of the top 8 allergens. You can find it at Target, Whole Foods and Smiths. Next use Halloween cookie cutters and sprinkles.
Spooky sundae bar
Next, I have a scary sundae bar with Halo Top who makes better-for-you frozen treats including non-dairy options and keto pints and pops that are lower in fat, sugar, carbs and calories than regular ice cream. Then add your nutritious toppings.
Spooky sangria spritzer
Finally I have an adult-friendly treat – a Spooky Sangria Spritzer. Start with green and black grapes and sliced oranges, then add 1 cup of 100% orange juice, 2 cups of sparkling water, and 1 bottle of FitVine Wine Red Zinfandel – this has only 1 gram of sugar in the whole bottle compared to 1 gram per average glass of wine. All the FitVine wines are lower sugar full-alcohol wines – you can find them on fitvinewine.com.
