CBS Las Vegas: Fall Wellness

November 4, 2023

Fall is a great time to reset your routine and eating habits. I have tips to help keep your wellness in check this season.

My first tip is to eat with the seasons.

Winter squash like pumpkin, butternut, acorn and spaghetti takes center stage in the cooler months. Spaghetti squash is a naturally low calorie pasta swap that’s is rich in flling fiber and important nutrients like vitamin C andd potassium. Plus it’s mild in taste to it makes the perfect base for your favorite pasta sauces. Acorn squash is a creative way to enhance the presentation of your fall dishes. Use acorn squash halves as bowls for your favorite grain and protein dishes. And don’t forget about pumpkin! Puree cooked pumpkin into soups and stews for creamy flavor and a boost of beta-carotene antioxidants which are good for the skin and immune system.

Next, take the guesswork out of meal time by stocking up on easy, nutritious meal options.

Ready in minutes, LEAN CUISINE Balance Bowls are made with quality, well-balanced ingredients and deliver bold flavor in four delicious and nutritious varieties that contain 400 calories or less and 0g of added sugar. November is National Diabetes Awareness Month. LEAN CUISINE Balance Bowls were crafted alongside members of the American Diabetes Association to be the first frozen entrées to meet the organization’s Better Choices for Life nutrition criteria for calories, sodium, total c arbohydrates and more as indicated by the ADA Better Choice for Life seal on — a simple way to identify products suitable for someone looking to manage their diabetes through appropriate dietary choices. You can find them at major retails including Walmart and Target.

Finally, support your wellness this season with nutrient-dense snack options.

Ovation Foods Steak-N-Eggs meat snacks which are made from premium quality lean beef combined with one whole egg delivering a delicious taste along with an incredible amount of nutrients like 25-28g of high-quality protein and 38 essential nutrients including 190 mg of essential brain nutrient choline. If you’ve never heard of Choline it’s an essential brain nutrient we all should pay attention to because a recent study states over 90% of Americans are deficient in this nutrient. Eggs are the single best dietary source to obtain it from. Ovation Foods Steak-N-Eggs products just launched into the market beginning with Sprouts Farmers Markets. You find them at the front of the store at the “Forager Table” in 4 delicious flavors – Teriyaki, Smokehouse, Black Pepper and my favorite – Jalapeno cheddar.
