I’m on CBS Atlanta sharing holiday hosting tips!
Holiday hosting can be a lot of fun if you plan ahead! I have some tips to make holiday hosting easy, delicious and nutritious. First, I like kicking things off with an overflowing charcuterie board. I include protein options like cheese and nuts, fruits, veggies, whole grain crackers and nutritious dip option like hummus and salsa. Pairing protein and produce is a great way to kick off a holiday party without ruining the appetites of your guests. Protein and fiber from produce will help take the edge off hunger without wanting to skip out on the main course or dessert.
Balance out your heavier holiday fair with a fresh and vibrant citrus winter salad. Combine 5 cups of mixed greens, ½ cup pomegranate seeds, ½ cup crumbled feta, ½ cup of maple pecans and 3 sassy brand satsuma mandarins. For your dressing, combine 1/3 cup olive oil, 1 tbsp of honey, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper and garlic to taste. Toss to combine. Sassy brand Satsuma Mandarins are farmed in North Florida and South Georgia and are only available for a few months each winter so snatch them up while you can! These mostly seedless, easy-to-peel satsumas are loaded with vitamin C a key nutrient important for immune health. You can find southern sassies satsuma mandarins locally at Kroger and Ingles.
