Today on Good Food Friday, I shared some unique ways to incorporate more plant-based foods into your diet starting with a Valentine’s day-themed snack board built around protein and produce aka. a snack board with staying power! Start with the ready-to-eat Dandy Radishes and a heart-shaped cookie cutter. These radishes are a great chip alternative, naturally low in calories and perfect for dipping. For our protein source we used the plant-based Dips by Fresh Cravings. These vegan dips launched last October, they’re made with an almond or cashew base and super food ingredients like chia seeds and hemp seeds. We have a Smokehouse Almond, Creamy Garlic Almond and Kickin’ Queso Cashew. Round it out with some chocolate for V-Day!
This next snack also pairs plant protein and produce – my chickpea tuna-less salad stuffed celery sticks. We are starting with the Dandy Celery, which is naturally sweeter and crispier with fewer strings. Dandy produce is grown and shipped by Duda Farm Fresh Foods which is a family owned business that’s been researching, developing and growing celery for nearly 100 years. For our salad, add 1/2 cup of mashed chickpeas, 2 tbsp diced red onion, salt and pepper to taste and instead of mayonnaise, I used 2 tbsp of the Organic Creamy Garlic Almond Dip by Fresh Cravings. These dips are gluten and dairy-free and can easily be integrated into recipes as a replacement for dairy or cream-based ingredients.
What’s great about the Fresh Cravings dips is they are versatile – use it in homemade pasta sauce, salad dressings and as a taco topping. They are preservative free and can be found chilled in the produce section at Publix. Instead of additives, they are made with flavorful spices like smoked paprika and chipotle chili.
