ABC News 4: Healthy New Year Reset

January 13, 2023

It’s Good Food Friday! I’m sharing tips to reset you diet for the new year.

First, start the day with a healthy breakfast.

Start by adding oat, chia seeds, maple soup and milkto a jar and let that sit overnight. If you are working out in the morning you can add 1 scoop of the The SSparkle Wellness Muscle Boost Powder is made with grass-fed bovine derived BODYBALANCE collagen peptides that some studies suggest may support lean muscle mass and improve body composition by increasing fat metabolism – even more than traditional protein powders containing whey. It comes in 3 varieties – mixed berry, orange and unflavored. You can purchase on Amazon or at lovesparkle.life.

Salad jars are an easy and healthy make-ahead lunch idea that stays fresh in the fridge when stored right.

For my Mediterranean salad jar, I use Fresh Cravings creamy hummus as the dressing which is made with a short list of high quality ingredients like chickpeas, savory tahini and Chilean extra virgin olive oil. It comes in variety of flavors including everything bagel, honey jalapeno, lemon garlic and spicy red pepper. You can find it in the deli section at Walmart.  Then add chickpeas, cucumber, tomato, red onion, feta and arugula.  Simply pour it out onto a plate before enjoying.

Next, focus on building nutrient-dense snacks to bridge the gap between meals.

The Crispy Green fruit snacks are freeze-dried to a crispy texture and made with one ingredient – 100% pure fruit and nothing else so no sugar.  Their new packaging features a recyclable outer bag and 4 single-serving bags as opposed to 6 with an average 53% MORE fruit per bag. You can find them at Harris Teeter or CrispyGreen.com where you can get 15% off with their reboot with crispy fruit new year campaign.

Finally, support both your immune and digestive health with probiotics.

The new TruBiotics probiotics feature the most clinically researched Bacillus probiotic strain – B subtilis DE111® – with research showing it supports a healthy digestive system by multiplying good bacteria, supporting normal gut barrier function, and aiding digestion through enzyme production.  The supplements are naturally sugar-free and get their sweet flavor from fructooligosaccharides, a prebiotic fiber. The Kids Probiotic Gummies include vitamin C, and the Adults Probiotic Gummies include vitamin D. You can find TruBiotics® on Amazon.
