Today on Good Food Friday, I shared fall wellness essentials!
First, we have a fall snacking essential
Fresh Cravings hummus is creamy, delicious and made with a short list of high quality ingredients – Chilean extra virgin olive oil, chickpeas and tahini. It comes in a range of flavors including roasted garlic, honey jalapeno and everything bagel.Find it in the deli section at Walmart along with their famous refrigerated salsa which you can find chilled in the produce section.
Next is a gut health salad – the secret ingredient is fermented foods!
Cleveland Kitchen makes raw unpasteurized kraut, kimchi and salad dressings so you get the benefits of gut-healthy probiotics. You can find them in the refrigerated section at Whole Foods, Publix and Walmart. I love their salad dressings made with fermented vegetables that can be used as a marinade as well.
Next are meals to support brain health
Secret Island Salmon has the Best Aquaculture Practices or BAP label certifying that the farmed seafood is responsibly produced. Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing forms of food production with the potential to continue to feed people responsibly for generations to come. You can find BAP-certified products at grocery stores across the country and also direct from farmers like Secret Island Salmon which is available at SecretIslandSamon.com.
The farmed whitefish from Publix is also BAP-certified meaning you know the fish are humanely treated, and the workers and marine habitat are protected. Publix has made BAP certification a part of their requirements for their farmed seafood offerings, including salmon, whitefish, shrimp, mussels and oysters. Just look for the blue BAP- label.
Finally, kids can support their brain health with the Brainiac Foods Brain Squeezers which are apple sauces packed with brain nutrients including omega-3 DHA fatty acids and choline. They come in mega apple, apple cinnamon and apple strawberry with no added sugar or artificial flavors. Find them at Publix and Walmart.
