Winter is practically here now that we are officially in December. I shared some great tips on CBS News 13 on how to help prepare your home, kitchen and pantry for winter. Watch the whole segment here!
- Warm up with a hearty winter stew: As a dietitian, I love making soups and stews in the winter– it’s an easy way to use leftover veggies you have on hand, it’s nutritious and it will warm you up from the inside!
- Take advantage of the cold outside and cook your favorite meals at home. The cold weather is an excuse to cook your favorite meals at home instead of going out which is typically healthier and most cost-effective.
- Wind down and relax with a glass of red wine. Who doesn’t love to relax with a glass of wine– especially in the winter. Red wine boasts antioxidants and had a compound called resvertrol suggested to promote longevity
- Fill the air with the cozy scent of freshly baked cookies. Nothing makes a home feel cozy like the smell of freshly baked cookies! My favorite-boxed cookie mixes are made with almond flour and coconut sugar which have less than half the sugar and carbohydrates of leading baking mix brands.
