This weekend marks the unofficial start of summer! Today on Good Food Friday, I shared healthy seasonal menu swaps for Memorial Day.
A lightened-up Patriotic Cocktail
I shared a lightened-up patriotic cocktail – a red white and blue wine spritzer! Instead of using sugar to sweeten them, I used Stevia In The Raw – which a zero-calorie sweetener that contains extracts from the leaves of the stevia plant. It’s available in convenient pre-portioned packets. One packet is as sweet as two teaspoons of sugar, which makes it easy to add sweetness to any of your favorite beverages.
Host a grain-free fiesta
I shared my favorite GRAIN-free tortilla chips and tortillas by Siete – some of the best chips I have ever tasted! The company was founded by a Veronica Garza who started following a grain-free diet to alleviate symptoms of her autoimmune conditions. Now it’s a family-owned, mission-based company based out of Austin, Texas, making healthy Mexican American food more accessible. Hot Sauce is their NEWEST product, which launches on Memorial Day!
A staple for pizza, pasta and tacos
I shared pizza, pasta and tacos made with The Jersey Tomato Co. Sauces. They come in three varieties: spicy, tomato basil and marinara. What’s great about these is that they are added-sugar free AND naturally lower in sodium due to the uniqueness of the Jersey tomatoes that they are made with. Dietitian-approved!
Patriotic popsicles
I ended with a fun dessert option: patriotic popsicles made with seasonal berries and coconut water! I used the Amy and Brian original Coconut Water – it also comes in lime and cinnamon. All are added sugar free and a natural source of electrolytes like potassium. You can find them on Amazon and use code 20MIA for 20% off!
