It’s Good Food Friday! I love this time of year but it can be stressful if you are hosting. I partnered with some great products that will help you put together a delicious spread, without the stress. Find all the tips in my segment on ABC WCIV Lowcountry Live.
Time-saving entertaining staples
SALSA is a timesaving entertaining staple. I shared the Organic Restaurant Style Salsa by Garden Fresh Gourmet. It’s made in small batches with high quality ingredients and no artificial preservatives. Besides serving it with chips as you typically would, it also makes a great addition to breakfast. Earlier this week, I shared my 4-ingredient breakfast bowls made with quinoa, kale, eggs and the salsa, which adds a blend of tomato, fresh onions and cilantro. You can find this salsa in the refrigerated section at Publix for 4.99.
A cooking and baking staple for all of your holiday entertaining needs
I shared the Brummel & Brown Organic, a buttery spread made with organic yogurt and plant-based oils. It has a similar consistency and creaminess to butter, but less saturated fat so it’s a great 1:1 substitute. I used it to make stuffed delicata squash, cranberry crostini and walnut honey baked pears – really versatile!
Rethink your flour in festive holiday desserts
I shared a fun dessert for mint chocolate lovers – Cacao Crispy Mint Patties.Instead of using flour as the base, I used the Sprouted Brown Rice Cacao Crisps by One Degree Organic Foods. What I like about these is that you get all the great nutrition from brown rice, BUT they take their whole grain products one step further by sprouting them, which lowers the carbohydrates, increases the fiber and protein, and makes it easier to digest for some individuals.
A festive and functional holiday cocktail
I shared cranberry candy cane martinis – with a functional twist made with herbal tea by the Herb Guru Brand. They use a thousand-year-old herbal recipe reformulated by a naturopathic doctor to include modern everyday ingredients like peppermint and citrus. You can enjoy them hot or add them to mixed drinks.
