You don’t have to be a vegetarian to reap the benefits of eating more plant-based foods! Today on Good Food Friday, I shared four easy ways to do just that.
Plant-centric pizzas
I shared vegan and vegetarian frozen pizzas by Sweet Earth. Sweet Earth is a modern food company that handcrafts award-winning plant-centric products that are comforting, nourishing and convenient! The Veggie Lover’s vegan pizza is on a cornmeal, carrot and chia crust piled high with vegetables and SO good.
Meet one serving of veggies on the go
Another convenient veggie-focused meal is the Cup Noodles Very Veggie. It’s the first instant Cup Noodle with a full servings of vegetables per container. The Cup Noodles Very Veggie Soy Sauce is the new vegetarian flavor – it has edamame, carrots and bok choy with a soy sauce flavor. Cup Noodles recently adjusted their recipe to lower the sodium and eliminate artificial flavors and added MSG while still retaining the same great taste that everyone knows and loves.
High quality protein for vegetarians
Eggs are a good source of protein for vegetarians BUT not all eggs are created equal. Pasture-raised organic eggs are the gold standard and I shared those by Handsome Brook Farm. Their hens are raised on grassy pastures and are free to roam which results in a nutritionally superior egg that’s higher in omega-3 fats and vitamins A and E. Not only can you taste the difference, you can see the difference by the golden-yellow color of the yolk.
A beverage with benefits
A plant-based diet can also help manage high blood pressure, which is great news for nearly half of American adults. 120/Life is a beverage that really demonstrates how food can be medicine. It’s made with six natural ingredients clinically shown to help normalize blood pressure including pomegranate and cranberries. You can find them at 120life.com and consumers say it takes about 5-7 days to see a difference.
