2018 “Superfood”
HEMP HEARTS are nutrient powerhouse and THE super food to incorporate in 2018. I shared Manitoba Harvest hemp foods which contain healthy fats including omega-3s and twice the protein of chia and flax seeds. They are incredibly versatile – you can add them to both sweet and savory dishes – including granola! As a dietitian, I love that these are an easy way to boost the nutrition of any meal – their combination of fiber, protein and healthy fat that really adds staying power.
Add more veggies in 2018
Veggies are the ultimate new you food – they are low in calories, high in fiber, vitamins and minerals. I shared crunchy slaws by Mann’s which make it really easy to incorporate them into every meal of the day. They’ve been chopped and washed for you so they are ready to enjoy and you save time in the kitchen. I shared them in tacos for lunch, veggie patties for dinner and even savory breakfast waffles.
Make healthy eating, EASIER

New you beverage of 2018
Meet my new-you beverage: the Amaz!n Prune Light Juice Cocktail by Sunsweet. It’s lower in calories and sugar than your regular prune juice but has same amount of fiber, which is important for digestive health. It has a light and delicate flavor, which makes it a great addition to smoothies or marinades. Sunsweet recently launced their “I Eat Right” campaign which is meant to inspire us to feel good by eating right and sharing what motivates that on social media using the hashtag #IEatRightBecause.
