Spice up your popcorn with turmeric and lime. A simple nutritious recipe that takes a few minutes to prep. Perfect for summer gatherings and movie nights.

Hellooo summer popcorn!

One thing my clients are always surprised about it, is that popcorn is considered a whole grain. YES, it is dietitian approved! 

Swap your morning toast or serving of quinoa for 3 cups (!) of popcorn which is equivalent to one whole grain serving.

Whole grains are superior to the refined stuff for their fiber content and B vitamins which support digestion and metabolism. 

While I typically enjoy my popcorn popped in olive or avocado oil, it is also the perfect vehicle for spices and seasonings. I encourage you to get creative and think outside the box.

Lime is the quintessential squeeze of summer and adds a kick to this summer snack.

Nutritional yeast is the ideal cheese-lover hack for those who are vegan or vegetarian because it packs a similar flavor.

Turmeric has been revered as a spice that fights inflammation. I have been finding more ways to enjoy it including turmeric lattes. You can read more about the benefits here.

This snack comes together in just a few minutes using ingredients you may already have on hand.

Turmeric Lime Popcorn

  1. 1 bag popcorn kernels
  2. 2 tbsp avocado oil
  3. 2 tbsp corn starch
  4. 2 tsp turmeric
  5. 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  6. 1 tsp salt
  7. 3 tbsp lime juice
  8. 1 tbsp lime zest
  1. Pop your popcorn kernels over the stovetop in avocado oil.
  2. In a small bowl, combine corn starch, turmeric, nutritional yeast and salt.
  3. Add popcorn to a bag and add seasoning mixture. Shake it up!
  4. Serve in a large bowl and top with lime juice and zest.
